Canon EOS Rebel T5 (1200D) Review

The EOS Rebel T5 is the cheapest entry level DSLR from Canon. The Canon EOS Rebel T5 is the next model from the Canon EOS Rebel T3. The T5 has the same body and features as the T3. This camera is perfect for filmmakers who have just started out and don’t have a lot of money for the Canon EOS 70D or 80D. You can even use this camera if you make YouTube videos or even a gift for your kids. Click here if you want to check the T5 on Amazon.

T5

The Canon EOS Rebel T5 is easy to grip and lightweight. The controls and menu are easy to locate and navigate through so it is easy to pick up, which is great for first time DSLR users and filmmakers.

There are some draw backs, the Canon EOS Rebel T5 viewfinder is very small and dim, it also has hard to see focus points, so it is not ideal when you want capture amazing photos, but if you are going to create short films you will not really need the viewfinder as it has a monitor at the back of the camera.

The Canon EOS Rebel T5 Specs:

  • 18 megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor with DIGIC 4 image processor
  • EF-S 18-55mm IS II standard zoom lens expands picture-taking possibilities
  • 3-inch LCD TFT color, liquid-crystal monitor for easy viewing and sharing
  • EOS 1080p full HD movie mode helps you capture brilliant results
  • Features include continuous shooting up to 3fps, Scene Intelligent Auto mode, creative filers, built-in flash and feature guide

This camera is perfect for first time DSLR users and filmmakers. When starting out in film-making it is best to focus on the story. If the story is compelling the audience will forgive for the technical difficulties. The retail price of the Canon EOS Rebel T5 is $549.00 USD but on Amazon it is $348.00 USD you save $201 USD.
